A letter from Diane February 2010 Dear Friends and Neighbors, I am honored to be a candidate for Town Clerk. Natick needs a Town Clerk with managerial experience, familiarity and knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations and demonstrated leadership skills. Natick needs the right leader who will maintain the improvements of the last three years and continue to strengthen the Clerk’s office. Some of the issues in this campaign include:
Massachusetts General Laws (MGL), the Code of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR), and the Town’s Charter and Bylaws define most of the Clerk’s responsibilities and procedures. In deciding to run for the Town Clerk’s position I accessed, researched and read these statutes and regulations. Natick’s Town Clerk is the town’s chief officer of public information, voter registration, elections and public records. The Clerk manages a department of three full-time and up to 75 part-time appointed positions. The Clerk’s office is responsible for two separate budgets totaling close to $300,000. The Town Clerk is also one of the Registrar of Voters. My many years of professional and civic experience enable me to manage the office’s resources and employees efficiently, impartially, responsively and effectively for the citizens. Public awareness and participation in local, state and federal elections and government is critical. Continued voter and citizen outreach, proactive and sustained communications and access to information will be one of my priorities. Significant progress has been made in improving the quantity and quality of information posted on the Clerk’s website. I pledge to maintain the improvements. Please get involved. We must elect a Town Clerk who will respond to the needs of the voters and our community. There are many ways you can help this campaign, click here to get involved. I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, March 30th. Sincerely, Diane
